About URUBU

Based in the UK and growing from long-standing roots in conscious dance and community work, URUBU exists to support people in inhabiting their bodies, deepening relational maturity, and learning how to hold spaces with care and integrity.

Who We Are

URUBU is a School of Transformational Arts rooted in embodied practice, creative ritual, and humanistic psychology. Based in the UK and growing from long-standing roots in conscious dance and community work, URUBU exists to support people in inhabiting their bodies, deepening relational maturity, and learning how to hold spaces with care and integrity.

We are a school, a community, and a living lineage. Not a personality-led brand. Not a promise of enlightenment. But a place where practice happens — slowly, relationally, and in real human bodies.

URUBU grew from years of facilitating dance, movement, breath, and ritual spaces, and from a recognition that many people are hungry for depth — but wary of unsafe, ungrounded, or performative wellness culture. We offer another way.

Our Story

URUBU emerged from the UK’s conscious dance and movement landscape, particularly the lineage of Ecstatic Dance London and related ritual-movement spaces that have been running for many years. What began as live, communal dance experiences gradually revealed a deeper calling: not only to host events, but to transmit the values, ethics, and skills required to hold them well.

Over time, the work expanded — shaped by somatic psychology, humanistic therapy, trance-based practices, and creative arts. URUBU formed as a way to gather these strands into a coherent school and community, without turning them into a rigid institution.

We are still evolving. URUBU is designed to stay responsive, relational, and alive — more like a mycelial network than a hierarchy

What We Believe

Our work is guided by a set of lived principles. These principles are woven through our events, our trainings, and how we relate behind the scenes. They are informed by humanistic and body-based psychology, somatic education, and decades of embodied practice

The body is the doorway

We trust the intelligence of sensation, movement, breath, and impulse.

Presence over performance

We value authenticity more than expression that looks impressive.

Consent and relational integrity

Choice, boundaries, and clear agreements are foundational

Nervous system respect

We work with regulation, pacing, and titration, not overwhelm or catharsis for its own sake.

Creativity as medicine

Dance, voice, rhythm, and imagination are essential human capacities.

Community as a practice

Togetherness is something we learn — not something we assume.

What We Offer

URUBU is an ecosystem designed to meet people at different moments of their journey.

For some, that looks like weekly sessions or one-off workshops — spaces to move, breathe, listen, and reconnect.

For others, it’s immersive urban day retreats or residential retreats and festivals, where practice can deepen over time within a held container.

And for those who feel called to guide others, URUBU offers trainings and facilitator pathways — grounded, ethical, and designed to develop both personal capacity and professional integrity.

We don’t believe in fast-track certifications or collecting techniques. Our trainings emphasise lived experience, self-reflection, peer feedback, and ongoing supervision, because facilitation is about who you are — not just what you know.

You are welcome here — whether you come once, return often, or feel called to walk a longer path. You might begin by attending an event, joining a retreat, or simply receiving our reflections through the mailing list. If you feel drawn toward facilitation, there are clear, supported pathways to explore that too.

There is no rush. No pressure to become anything other than more yourself.
