Exploring
Ecstatic Dance
Whether you’re arriving to unwind, to feel more alive, or to reconnect with yourself, this is a space where the body can soften, move, and transform in its own time.
Intro to Ecstatic Dance
Ecstatic Dance is a ritualised movement practice where music, body, and presence meet.
It’s an invitation to move freely, feel deeply, and reconnect with the innate intelligence of your body — beyond performance, substances, or social expectation.
At URUBU, Ecstatic Dance is both an experience and a pathway: a space to explore transformation in yourself, and, for some, a doorway into learning how to hold this work for others.
What Is Ecstatic Dance?
Ecstatic Dance is a guided movement journey held within a clear, intentional container. The space is drug-free, barefoot, and non-verbal on the dancefloor, allowing participants to drop beneath the thinking mind and into direct bodily experience.
Through carefully curated music, ritual structure, and attuned facilitation, the dance becomes a vehicle for release, expression, integration, and renewal. Emotions move. Energy shifts. Stillness emerges naturally.
This is not choreography, therapy, or performance.
It is a practice of embodied presence — one that supports nervous system regulation, emotional clarity, creativity, and a felt sense of belonging within a shared field.

Origins & Lineage
Ecstatic Dance at URUBU is rooted in movement as ritual — drawing from somatic psychology, trance-based dance, active meditation, and expressive arts traditions where music and movement are used to access presence, release, and transformation.
Rather than performance or spectacle, the focus is on embodied awareness, emotional safety, and the natural intelligence of the body, shaped into a contemporary, ethical practice for modern life.

How Dance Transforms
- Regulates the Nervous System Rhythmic movement helps release stress, discharge excess energy, and bring the body back into balance, supporting feelings of safety, grounding, and calm.
- Releases Emotional Charge Unexpressed emotions live in the body. Dance allows feeling to move without needing words, analysis, or story — creating space, clarity, and relief.
- Awakens Aliveness & Creativity As tension softens, vitality returns. Movement reconnects you with play, spontaneity, and the creative impulse that fuels joy and resilience.
- Builds Connection & Belonging Moving together in a shared, non-verbal space fosters deep connection — to yourself, to others, and to something larger than the individual experience.
Real People. Real Results
I wish I would have discovered this in my 20s, I would saved myself many silly and not so silly drunken and drug fuelled nights. This is what we are looking for when we go out and rarely get to, but you get to home at 11pm and wake up feeling refreshed instead of with a hungover
Been to two events in Tufnell Park. Loved them both. That wooden assembly hall is a beautiful space. Good music and nice crowd. Will def keep going back
Exceptional event! Had SUCH a wonderful day. Delightful people, exquisite food, great tunes. Seth’s set was really extraordinary and Niraj’s SOMA breathwork experience was so beautiful. Everything was exquisite.

Train as a Facilitator
For some, the dance becomes a calling — not to perform or lead from the front, but to learn how to hold space for others with integrity and care.
Our facilitator trainings are grounded in embodied presence and nervous system awareness,
These trainings are experiential, relational, and process-led. Progression is not about mastery or authority, but about capacity, responsibility, and readiness.
