MUSH® - the London Cuddle Community

MUSH® is a conscious cuddle and human connection community rooted in consent, clarity, and care.

What Is MUSH®?

MUSH® is a conscious cuddle and human connection community rooted in consent, clarity, and care.

It is a non-sexual, agreements-based touch practice designed to support nervous system regulation, wellbeing, and a sense of belonging through safe, platonic physical contact. MUSH® is facilitated, structured, and values-led. It exists to offer something many adults are quietly missing: warm, human contact held within clear boundaries.

MUSH® is not a dating space.
It is not free-form touch.
It is not spontaneous or unstructured.

Every session is guided, every form of touch is negotiated, and every participant is supported to stay in choice — with their body, their voice, and their pace.

MUSH® in London is held by experienced facilitators working in collaboration with URUBU – School of Transformational Arts and Ecstatic Dance London, drawing on years of practice in trauma-aware facilitation, group containers, and embodied consent.

This is adult work, offered slowly and with care.

What MUSH® Is And What It Is Not

This clarity is intentional. MUSH® works because people enter with shared expectations and a willingness to practice consent as an active skill.

🗸 MUSH® is:

🗸 Consensual, non-sexual, and explicitly bounded
🗸Facilitated and structured
🗸 Agreements-based and values-oriented
🗸 Slow, intentional, and grounded
🗸 Focused on nervous system regulation and co-regulation
🗸 Designed to support wellbeing and community connection

✘ MUSH® is not:

✘ Sexual or erotic
✘ A place to flirt or pursue a romantic connection
✘ Alcohol- or substance-fuelled
✘ Free-for-all or boundary-less
✘ Performative or expressive for an audience
✘ A casual drop-in experience

Entry Into the Community: How Joining Works

MUSH® is a community, not a one-off event.

To attend, you must be sponsored by an existing MUSH® community member. This referral process helps protect the integrity of the space and ensures that everyone arriving understands the values of the group.

Your first session is always a Welcome MUSH®.

What a Welcome MUSH® Includes

A Welcome MUSH® is a structured introduction and orientation. It includes:

  • A clear explanation of what MUSH® is and how it works
  • Consent education and shared agreements
  • A facilitated boundary and communication workshop
  • A guided, supported cuddle experience

This entry process exists to:

  • Protect the community
  • Establish shared language and expectations
  • Build trust and continuity
  • Ensure that consent is practiced, not assumed

If you are not willing to work with structure, agreements, and reflection, MUSH® will not be the right fit.

The Agreements & Values

Agreements are central to MUSH®. They are not optional, implied, or “understood.”

They are spoken aloud, revisited, and actively practiced. Rather than listing every agreement here, it is important to understand their function:

  • To support clarity
  • To protect choice and agency
  • To make consent explicit and ongoing
  • To create safety without rigidity

The agreements are there to support the nervous system — not to police behaviour. They create the conditions where people can relax because the boundaries are clear.

In MUSH®:

  • Consent is ongoing, not a one-time decision
  • Anyone can change their mind at any point
  • Listening is as important as asking
  • “No” is always welcome
  • Voice and body language both matter

How a MUSH® Session Unfolds (Step by Step)

MUSH® sessions move slowly and deliberately. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is sprung on participants without preparation.

The session begins with gentle grounding practices to help everyone arrive in their bodies.

This may include simple awareness exercises, breathing, or guided settling. The intention is to down-regulate the nervous system and shift out of the pace of daily life.

Participants are invited to notice their bodies, their breath, and their internal state — without needing to change anything.

From grounding, the group moves into light, playful warm-ups.

This includes soft movement, gentle silliness, and playful sound — sometimes using non-verbal “gobble-de-gook.” The purpose is not performance, but reducing self-consciousness safely and loosening habitual social tension.

Play is used carefully and intentionally, always within consent, to support ease and connection.

Before any touch occurs, there is a structured consent and boundary practice.

Participants explore:

  • Practising a clear “no” and noticing how it feels in the body

  • Saying “yes unless it’s a no”

  • Saying “yes when you mean no” — and feeling the impact of that internally

  • Learning about common nervous system responses such as fawn and freeze

This workshop is foundational. It helps people recognise their own patterns and prepares them to stay in authentic choice during touch.

This is done gently, respectfully, and without pressure.

We begin entering the Mush. Carefully and slowly. No one is touched without consent.
Anyone can opt out, pause, or change position at any time. Read more in the next section.

The MUSH® Cuddle Structure

Touch in MUSH® follows a clear, neutral structure.

There is no improvising, grabbing, or assuming.

The cuddle configuration is often a criss-cross “mush”:

✦ One person rests in the centre
✦ Others approach slowly, using “twinkle hands” on the head or legs as a consent signal
✦ Head or leg placement is always optional and negotiated
✦ A mush forms collaboratively, one step at a time

Every addition to the mush is checked, signalled, or verbally requested.

No one is touched without consent.
Anyone can opt out, pause, or change position at any time.

Requests for touch — such as a hand on an arm or gentle contact on hair — are asked for clearly. Touch is never implied.

Consent In Action

Voice, Breath & Regulation

Consent continues throughout the cuddle. Participants are encouraged to use:

Voice

To Ask, Adjust, Provide Consent or Decline

Body language

To Signal Comfort or Discomfort

Breath

As A Tool For Regulation
