A Day Retreat, Without Leaving London
URUBU Urban Day Retreats are a monthly Saturday sanctuary — a full-day arc of movement, breath, ritual and dance, held right here in the city.
It’s a chance to step out of “doing” and into the body: to soften the noise, reset your system, and reconnect with what’s underneath the week. Expect a guided journey that moves from grounded embodiment, into deeper inner work, and out into an evening of cacao and ecstatic dance.
One Saturday a month. One complete reset.
A realistic promise: you’ll likely leave feeling clearer, calmer, and more grounded.
What Is an Urban Day Retreat?
An Urban Day Retreat is a retreat in the true sense — not because you’ve travelled far, but because you’ve stepped into a different pace.
We create the conditions that most of us can’t access between meetings, messages, and a busy London nervous system: time, spaciousness, and a clear container that holds your attention gently in one direction. A full-day arc allows the body to settle in stages. You don’t just “drop in” and rush back out — you arrive, you unfold, and you integrate.
The intention is practical and human:
- embodied resilience (more capacity, less brittle)
- nervous system regulation (downshift, reset, recover)
- relational confidence (clearer boundaries, more ease with people)
- creative aliveness (the part of you that feels real, awake, and resourced)
The Shape of the Day (Three-Part Journey)
Each Urban Day Retreat follows the same three-part rhythm, with different content each month. Everything is guided, and you can come with zero experience.
Morning Workshop (approx 11:45–2:30)
We begin in the body.
This first session is a deeper embodiment practice that changes each month — sometimes trance dance, sometimes bioenergetics, sometimes creative flow, sometimes a different URUBU modality. The through-line is consistent: grounding, building safety in the system, and moving energy in a way that’s intentional (not chaotic).
Think: arrive → warm up → open the body → find your feet.
Afternoon Workshop (approx 3:30–5:45)
We deepen the inner work and the relational field.
This session often focuses on breathwork, boundaries, conscious connection, or structured relational practices.
These are always consent-led, always with choice. Some months it’s more inward; some months it includes meeting others in simple, guided ways.
Evening Ecstatic Dance + Cacao (approx 7–9:45)
We close with a communal movement ritual.
The evening is a phone-free, no-talking dancefloor held as a moving meditation, with a cacao ceremony at the start and an optional fruit social afterwards.
You can dance wildly, gently, awkwardly, beautifully — all of it belongs, as long as you stay respectful and present.
What Changes Each Month
Each month has a theme and a different combination of practices, but the container stays the same.
This page is the home base for the series. Individual date pages hold the specifics: the exact theme, the modalities, and the flavour of that month’s journey.
Why return month-to-month? Because rhythm matters. When you come back regularly, you build:
- familiarity with the container (it gets easier to drop in)
- momentum (your nervous system learns the pathway)
- community (faces become friends, not strangers)
- integration (the work lands in daily life, not just in the room)
Sample themes might include:
Grounding & Reset · Boundaries & Clarity · Creative Unblocking · Heart & Connection · Releasing Stress & Charge

The Container: What We Practice Here
Urban Day Retreats are:
- alcohol-free, drug-free, and phone-free
- held with a consent-led culture
- structured and welcoming — with clear boundaries
You won’t be asked to share personal stories in front of the group. You won’t be pushed to “break through” anything. You’re invited into experience — and you’re trusted to pace yourself.
We practise simple but powerful things:
- listening to the body
- respecting “no” (including your own)
- choosing participation rather than performing it
- taking breaks when needed
- staying present with yourself and the room
Who It’s For (and Who It’s Not)
This clarity is intentional. Urban Day Retreats work because people enter with shared expectations and a willingness to practice consent as an active skill.
